Constipation

Constipation is getting quite common now a days. This mainly happens due to modern life style food. Constipation relates to difficulty in passing the stool or sitting too long in toilet, stool become hard and difficult to pass. Constipation when aggravates leads to many associated problems like Headaches, Piles, Blood in toilet, Bloating, Un-easiness etc.

As per Ayurveda this is caused due to mandagni or low digestive fire.  The low digestive fire lowers the digestion power of body and it causes constipation.

Jathragni and Mandagni in Ayurveda

Jatharagni is, digestive fire in the body responsible for metabolizing food. Jatharagni is one of 13 types of fire in the body according to Ayurvedic philosophy.

Jathragni name comes from the Sanskrit Jathara meaning “abdomen” and Agni meaning “fire”. It is important that Jatharagni is in balance for optimum health and this balance of Jathra Agni is good for both digestion and overall health.

However, Jatharagni is affected by the imbalance in doshas and this imbalance in Jathragni is in four possible ways.

  1. Manda agni, where Kapha dominates.
  2. Vishama agni when Vata dominates
  3. Tikshna agni, where Pitta dominates.
  4.  Sama Agni where Tridosha is imbalanced.
