As per Dictionary Varicose means the twisted or swollen. So Varicose Veins means  – Veins in Legs appear swollen and bulged. Any vein may become varicosed, but this problem is most common in legs.

The veins get enlarged near the surface of skin and usually this medical condition is seen in thigh and legs muscles. The veins become week and the valves underdeveloped.

Causes of Varicose Veins:

Arteries carry blood from heart & veins return blood to the Heart. To return blood to the heart, the veins in the legs must work against gravity. Muscle contractions in lower legs act as pumps. Tiny valves in veins open and blood flows toward the heart. These tiny valves close to stop blood from flowing backward.

If these valves get weak blood will flow backward and will accumulate in the vein itself, causing the veins to stretch or twist.

Symptoms of Varicose Veins:

  • Veins appear dark purple or blue in color.
  • Accumulation of blood in the veins of legs.  
Common Reasons for the varicose Veins:
  • Standing for Long periods.
  • Engaging in physical activity that puts more strain on the legs like Running.
  • Wearing tight cloths and total lack of exercise can gives rise to varicose.
