According to Ayurveda, impaired Kapha or water accumulates in the Sinus, which blocks the flow of air or imbalances the Pitta Dosha. Impaired Pitta Dosha is the cause of swelling and irritation of the sinus region.
The sinuses are air-filled cavities in the skull that are located around the nose and eyes. In Ayurveda, sinusitis is known as Dushta Pratishyaya, or Pinas and it is caused by an imbalance in the Kapha dosha, which is responsible for mucus production in the body.
