Stomach controls the metabolism and this metabolism is controlled through the Jathra Agni present in the stomach. Jathragni is digestive fire which is responsible for the digestion and assimilation of the food.
The name Jethra Agni comes from the Sanskrit, Jathara meaning “abdomen” and agni meaning “fire”. It is important that Jatharagni is in balance for optimum health and this balance of Jathra Agni is good for both digestion and overall health.
The imbalance in Tridoshas disturbs the Jethargini and disturbance in Jethargni could lead this agni of 4 types.
- Vishama agni when vata dominates
- Tikshna agni, where pitta dominates.
- Manda agni, where kapha dominates.
- SamAgni when all doshas are in balance and this is healthy state.
- Acidity/Acid Reflux/GERD
